Trends in Bathrooms and Kitchens
As a plumber, it’s kind of exciting to see all of the different trends in bathrooms and kitchens. It may not seem exciting, but keeping up with the latest trends is part of embracing the industry that we love. Seeing the new fixtures our clients choose is very interesting. And being able to see the changes over the years gives us a good idea of which ones will be timeless and which will quickly date a room.
Here are some of the trends in bathrooms and kitchens that have caught our eyes lately.
Bathroom and Kitchen Trends
1. Silicone spray faces on shower heads. Like this one from Kohler, the surface on these easily comes clean and gives your shower a new look.
2. Shower systems with both a hand shower and an overhead shower. These give you the best of both worlds with fixed shower heads as well as one that can be hand-held for convenience. This one from Methven is pretty sleek.
3. Hands free faucets. Whether it’s a sensor tap or a touch tap – being able to turn on the kitchen faucet with dirty hands just got a lot easier and cleaner. Once reserved for public bathrooms, these are now making their way into homes!
4. Sinks that deter bacteria growth. Yep, over at Franke, they have developed a treatment for their Fragranite sinks that reduces the growth of bacteria by 99%. And it’s stain and heat resistant! Talk about making it easier to clean up in the kitchen.5. Using concrete for basins and countertops. It’s great seeing new materials being put to use in kitchens and bathrooms and the look of the concrete really suits modern decor.
6. Out with black, in with rose gold and more. We’ve seen a rise in different finishes over the years. From gold to chrome, to brushed chrome and more recently, black. Now you have even more choices – the Plumbline Buddy range comes in 12 different finishes! Black is still a strong trend but gold, copper and brass are on the rise. Bathroom accessories (towel rails, toilet brush holders, toilet paper holders, etc.) are also available in the same colours as your tapware.
7. Boiler and chiller taps in kitchens. With these, there’s no need for an electric jug! Some of them even have sparkling water on tap and you have no shortage of choices in style for these.
So what do you think of these trends? Which do you think are going to be fads and which ones would you put in your home? Are you inspired to try some of these in your home? Then, give us a call!
